Post-Surgery Scar Care Is Important.
Even after a successful plastic surgery procedure, some marks may remain around the incision areas. How noticeable these scars become largely depends on proper post-operative care during the recovery period.
Post-surgical scars can become barely visible or more pronounced
depending on how well the aftercare is managed.
If the surgery involves a wide incision area or highly visible parts
of the face, patients are usually prescribed a scar care cream or ointment.
After a facelift or rhinoplasty, it is generally recommended to apply scar
treatment products for about 6 months after stitch removal.
For surgeries around the eyes, the use of ointments may be limited
because the product can get into the eyes. Therefore, whether scar ointment
should be used is determined individually.
It is also important to avoid tension or pulling on the incision
line even after the stitches are removed. For a certain period, it is
recommended to use waterproof tape while washing your face or hair to help
protect the surgical area.
