My Eyes Looks Different after Lower Blepharoplasty!

Image
Lower blepharoplasty is an effective procedure for addressing issues like excess fat and sagging skin under the eyes.  However, some patients have reported perceiving asymmetry between their eyes post-surgery. Does it mean the surgery went wrong?  No, not really. Sometimes, one eye can heal and get better faster than the other, making them look uneven. Typically, it takes approximately one week for significant swelling to subside, and 2 to 3 weeks for the eyes to regain a natural appearance after the surgery. For smaller swellings, it might take up to 6 months to fully recover. If, after 6 months from the surgery date, your eyes still show asymmetry, the potential cause might be excessive fat removal under one eye. In such instances, it is advisable to consult with a specialized plastic surgeon before contemplating additional corrective procedures.

Scar management after plastic surgery

Most cosmetic surgeries are performed through an incision.  Even if the surgery went well, scarring can occur if the surgery was done in a visible area.  However, depending on how you take care of your treatment area after surgery, the scars can be either subtle or noticeable. If the incision is either wide or the surgery was performed on a visible area, it is recommended  to apply anti-scar ointment after surgery. As for a Facelift or Rhinoplasty, it is recommended  to apply anti-scar ointment for 6 months after the removal of stitches.  However, in the case of Blepharoplasty, the ointment may get into the eyes,  so the use of ointment varies depending on the eyelid condition. Even if the stitches are removed after surgery, you need to take care of the surgery site.  Depending on the surgery, you may be advised to apply waterproof tape. It is important to follow the post-surgery instructions given at the clinic to avoid the appearance of scars....

When can I start taking aspirin after surgery?

Image
We advise you to stop taking aspirin-based medications 1 to 2 weeks before getting plastic surgery. Aspirin prevents blood from clotting, so there is a risk of bleeding during surgery. If it is so, when can you resume taking aspirin if you stopped taking it before surgery? It is recommended to resume taking aspirin 2-3 weeks after surgery. You can take aspirin once the treatment site begins to heal. However, the appropriate time when you can take aspirin may vary depending on the surgical site. Therefore, please consult with a plastic surgeon before deciding on taking the medicine.

Lower blepharoplasty aftercare

If you are willing to undergo Lower Blepharoplasty, you might have some questions regarding the aftercare. Though the surgery itself is very important, the aftercare procedure is one of the vital things in the recovery process. Moreover, there are some rules which you should follow to alleviate and accelerate the rehabilitation process. Generally, it takes around 2-3 weeks to recover from Lower blepharoplasty. For this period of time, you need to take much rest, avoid doing heavy exercises and going to the sauna. During the treatment period, you can either carefully wash your hair at home or get the shampoo service at our clinic.  Applying cool and warm eye packs is a must for 5 days after the surgery. This helps to reduce redness, swelling, and bruising. You should also abstain from drinking alcohol and smoking to make the wound heal faster. You need to take the subscribed medicine such as analgesics, anti-inflammatory, and antipyretic medications. After the stitches are re...
