How long does swelling last after eyelid surgery?

About a week or two after eyelid surgery, many patients begin to worry about persistent swelling and ask:

How long will it last? When will my eyes start to look natural again?

Swelling and bruising after blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) vary from person to person depending on individual healing characteristics.

🔹 Major swelling typically subsides within 2–3 weeks
🔹 Residual swelling may last 3 to 6 months,
and in some cases, even longer.

💡 To help reduce swelling:
— Apply cold compresses for the first 3 days
— Then switch to warm compresses for about a week

Additional tips:
Eat foods that help reduce fluid retention
Take light walks regularly — this promotes circulation and speeds up recovery.
