Can neck wrinkles be removed with surgery?
For many women over 40, the neck becomes a noticeable area of concern as signs of aging appear. Unfortunately, until recently there were few effective options for treating neck wrinkles.
Previously, a T-shaped incision at the back of the neck was used to pull the skin.
However, this method often left visible scars and achieved only limited results, as it tightened skin but didn’t address the underlying muscles. In truth, removing wrinkles effectively requires lifting sagging muscles—not just cutting excess skin.
Today, a new surgical technique is gaining popularity for its simplicity and effectiveness. We’ve been offering this method at Shes Plastic Surgery for several years, with excellent results.
Many of our facelift patients also struggle with neck wrinkles. That’s why we often perform facelift and neck lift surgeries together. While a traditional facelift involves incisions around the ear to lift facial skin and muscles, the neck lift extends this incision behind the earlobe and along the hairline to also lift the neck area.
By treating both areas at once, results are more dramatic, recovery time is more efficient, and scars remain well-hidden behind the ears and in the hairline. For patients with significant aging in both the face and neck, our surgeons strongly recommend combining the procedures. However, neck lift surgery alone is also an option, typically taking about 2.5 hours.
