Is it safe to undergo Blepharoplasty shortly after Botox injections?

This is a common question from patients who are combining different cosmetic procedures.
Recently, during a consultation for eyelid surgery, a patient mentioned that she had received forehead Botox about a month ago, and asked whether it would be okay to proceed with double eyelid surgery.

Can forehead Botox affect the outcome of blepharoplasty?

Botox works by relaxing the muscles to reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
After the injection, some patients experience a feeling of heaviness around the eyes or notice a slight drooping of the eyebrows.

This is especially common in individuals who rely on their forehead muscles to lift their eyelids.

That’s why, if you’ve recently had Botox injections in the forehead,
it is generally recommended to wait at least 6 months before undergoing blepharoplasty.

This is because the effects of Botox typically last between 3 to 6 months, depending on the product used and individual factors.

Once the effects wear off, your surgeon will be able to better assess the natural condition of your eyelids and plan the surgery for optimal results.
