My Eyes Are Not Symmetrical after Lower Blepharoplasty!

Lower blepharoplasty is effective in removing fat and saggy skin under the eyes.

However, some patients have told us their eyes seem uneven after the surgery. Does it mean that there were some mistakes during the surgery?

No, it does not. The eyes may look asymmetrical due to the swelling after the surgery. It is due to the fact that one eye heals at a different rate from the other.

It typically takes around 1 week for large swellings to go away and 2 to 3 weeks for your eyes to look natural after the surgery. For small swellings, the recovery period is 6 months.

If your eyes still look uneven after 6 months from the surgery date, the possible reason is that the excess fat under one eye was overly removed. In this case, you should seek advice from a specialized plastic surgeon before considering an additional surgery for correction.
