During the consultation with the doctor, many patients ask whether they should discontinue taking medications they normally take before getting plastic surgery.


Does taking medications affect plastic surgery?





Depending on the type of medications you are taking, you may need to stop taking them before surgery. For example, medicine like aspirin prevents blood clots. Blocking the blood from clotting puts you at risk of bleeding during surgery. Therefore, we advise you to stop taking aspirin-like medications 1 to 2 weeks prior to plastic surgery.
