What is an Eye Bag Surgery?

Lower eyelid surgery, also called “lower blepharoplasty" is a type of cosmetic surgery that improves sagging, puffy, and wrinkled lower eyelids. Usually, this cosmetic surgery is combined with such surgeries as upper blepharoplasty. facelift or brow lift.

 

 

The surgeon administers local anesthesia and IV sedation to the patient during the surgery. The eye bag surgery may last from 1h to 2 hours.

 

 

The surgeon then makes an incision under the eyelashes. After that, he removes excess skin or fat and places sutures to close the incision.

 




After the surgery, patients might feel soreness, notice bruising and swelling. However, cold compresses and prescribed medications help reduce potential swelling and pain in the surgery site.

 

 

The doctor removes the stitches on the 5th day after the surgery. Every other day, you should visit the clinic for follow-up treatment and dressing.

 

 

For the first 2~3 weeks after stitch removal, it is better to avoid strenuous physical exercises, hot baths, sauna, and alcohol.
