What is the difference between IPL and other lasers?
The full name of IPL is Intense pulsed light. It is a procedure similar to laser treatments used to remove or improve wrinkles, age spots, pigmentation, sun damage. In this post, I am going to explain how IPL is different from other lasers.
Laser treatments use just only one wavelength of light on the entire skin. However, IPL focuses on many different light wavelengths. IPL enters the deep down to the second layer of the skin, called the dermis, while not damaging the epidermis. The heat coming from IPL absorbs skin pigmentation and cleans the skin from freckles or spots.
After the IPL procedure, it is recommended to avoid direct sun exposure, tanning, waxing, all kinds of chemical peels. Therefore, it is important to put a sunscreen regularly after the IPL. The skin may get dry after lPL. That is why it is important to apply moisturizer or sheet masks at night.
