How does Botox work?

Botox is a type of medical drug directly applied to the skin. The primary effect is that it blocks the muscles and smoothes out the wrinkles or fine lines. Botox is commonly used in improving dynamic wrinkles.

With the effect of relaxing muscles, Botox is a good anti-aging procedure. Botox injections are usually done by a plastic surgeon, dermatologist, or other physician having specific training and experience in Botox injections.

First of all, the doctor applies a numbing cream onto the target area because it will reduce any discomfort during the procedure. Then he applies the appropriate amount of Botox injection. After the procedure, there is no special downtime or treatment. You can easily resume your daily activities like work or studies.

It takes on average a week to see the effect of Botox. You start to feel how the muscles relax in 3 days after the Botox injection. One important thing to remember is that the Botox effect lasts from 4 to 6 months. After this period, you might have to repeat the Botox session.
