How does Asian Rhinoplasty work?

Asian Rhinoplasty is the plastic surgery that addresses the issues like low and flat nasal bridge and under projected nasal tip. The Asian Rhinoplasty involves a nose bridge augmentation with a silicone implant. If desired, the nasal tip can be changed together with the nose bridge. As a result, you will get improved front and side views of your nose, specifically, a more refined nose bridge with a well-defined nasal tip.

During the first consultation, the doctor will decide if you are a good candidate for Asian Rhinoplasty. The operation involves the insertion of an implant to elevate the nose bridge. However, the implant doesn’t extend to the tip to prevent the movement and extrusion of the implant.

As for the nasal tip plasty, the doctor can use the patient’s ear cartilage and create a projected nasal tip. The advantage of this method is that the cartilage is natural and is grafted from the patient’s own body. After the operation is performed, the tape and dressing are applied to the operated area. The tape should remain in place until the stitches are removed.

Right after the surgery, the patient may feel numbness in the tip of the nose. However, this reaction is temporary since there may be a temporary nerve disruption. The sensation will slowly return in several weeks or months.

Patients need to be careful so that the dressing remains undisturbed. To lessen the swelling and redness, it is important to keep your head elevated while sleeping. Wearing glasses is restricted for 6 months after the surgery. Full recovery can take approximately 6 months.
