FAQ after rhinoplasty.

Asking questions before and after the surgery is a patient’s duty and right at the same time. Anyone undergoing rhinoplasty has a right to know everything about the surgery (surgery methods, before and after surgery instructions, home care, potential side effects). Therefore, I have gathered some of the questions frequently asked by the patients who underwent rhinoplasty.

Q: How long does the post-surgery swelling go?
A: Well, it depends on each individuals’ constitution and body characteristics. However, in 2~3 weeks, much of the swelling should subside and will be less severe.

Q: When will the nasal splints be removed?
A: To protect and support the new structures during the recovery process, the plastic surgeon places a nasal splint or bandages. They will be removed in 2~3 days after the surgery. That depends on how fast the nose recovers.

Q: What medication will I be given or prescribed after the surgery?
A: Patients who did plastic surgeries, including rhinoplasty, are usually given pain-relieving or swelling-alleviation medications. Each patient will be given a detailed explanation about the medications after the surgery.

Q: Will I have dressings/bandages after the surgery?
A: Yes, Each surgery may require a treatment period. The next day after the surgery, you need to visit the clinic so that the doctor will check the result, and then you will come every other day for 7~9 days after the rhinoplasty. The stitches are taken on the 7~9th day. The nurses will sterilize the surgery area and stick a special water-proof tape for protection.
