Many people of Asian descent have single eyelids or monolids that are characterized by the absence of an eyelid crease. As a result, the eyes look small and droopy. Double eyelid surgery is a blepharoplasty that creates upper eyelid creases and makes eyes look more defined and large. Double eyelid surgery is an outpatient surgery that takes 1-1.5 hours to complete. It can be performed with non-incisional, partly-incisional, and incisional techniques depending on the patient’s natural shape of the eyes, preferences, and doctor’s recommendations. The non-incisional method enables the formation of double eyelids without the need for incisions. The partial-incisional method is used with the sutures and small incisions. The extra fat can be removed if needed. There is a small possibility of swelling and scarring  The incisional method is performed by making a long incision with sutures to remove the excessive fat.


You can go home on the same day of the surgery. The stitches will be removed 3-5 days after the operation depending on the method. You will be informed about the pre and after-care instructions before the surgery in order to achieve perfect results.
