Cheek liposuction

What is liposuction? Liposuction is a cosmetic procedure that uses a suction technique to get rid of fat from particular parts of the body. Liposuction remains one of the most popular surgeries throughout the world. Common areas for this procedure are the abdomen, thighs, and hips. However, liposuction can also be conducted on the cheeks. What is cheek liposuction? Cheek liposuction is similar to traditional liposuction in a way that it removes excess fat from cheeks. It can also contour or shape the face. As the skin heals, the face can become slim. This procedure also makes the face more defined.

During the procedure.  Cheek liposuction is an outpatient procedure. That means one can return home after the surgery. In general, the procedure lasts around 30 minutes to 1 hour. First, the doctor marks surgery areas using a marker. After he gives local anesthesia to the patient and makes small punctures on the face, and injects a saline solution. The target area swells, and this will allow the plastic surgeon to remove the fat tissues with ease. He uses a small device called a cannula placed into the incision. Then, he attaches a suction device to this cannula to remove fat from the cheeks.

After the cheek liposuction, you will be recommended to wear a compression garment over the face that covers the jaw and neck. The full recovery takes up to 3~4 weeks. Within this period, swelling should subside. One should remember that gaining weight after the procedure causes new fat cells to develop in the surgery site and other sites.
