Neck-lift

A neck lift is one type of cosmetic procedures removing excess skin, fat as well as wrinkles in the neck area. It creates a more defined and younger look. The results of the neck lift can last longer, but it does not stop the aging process.

Neck lift surgery can be conducted in conjunction with face-lift surgery. It removes signs of aging in the lower part of the face. Before the surgery, you will have a consultation with the plastic surgeon to discuss the details of the operation and expectations from it. During the consultation, the doctor can ask about your and your family's medical history. Moreover, you should also let the doctor know about the list of the medications you take. The doctor might ask you to stop taking blood-thinning medications such as aspirin, heparin, ibuprofen, etc. It is also important to avoid smoking for a while before and after the surgery because it can cause inflammation and delay the recovery.

Neck lift surgery can be done under local anesthesia and IV sedation. The doctor makes a 4-5 cm incision below the chin, removes excess fat through the liposuction and tightens the muscles of the vertical line, and then stitches them. The surgery does not leave any scars or visible marks. After the surgery, swelling and bruising might be expected. However, you will be given a special compression garment designed for the neck. It will alleviate pain and swelling. While sleeping, it is necessary to sleep in a high position by lifting the head. Twisting, touching, or bending the neck is not allowed. Full recovery takes some weeks when all the swelling and bruising subside and disappear.
