What you should know about forehead reduction

Forehead reduction is the cosmetic surgery that reduces the height of the forehead. A large forehead can cause different physical and psychological discomfort to the person. Therefore, people undergo this cosmetic procedure to balance the proportions of the face.

Forehead reduction is conducted under general anesthesia, but the doctor might also use local anesthesia to minimize the pain and bleeding. The surgeon makes an incision in the hairline, removes the excess skin, and then delicately sutures it. This surgery also effectively improves saggy eyebrows, wrinkles on the corners of the eye, and the nose bridge. Besides, it best suits those with puffy eyes, too. Since the incision is made in the hairline, the surgery scar is invisible.

Before the surgery, it is important to inform the doctor about the history of illness and medications that you take at present. It is not allowed to drink or eat 2 hours before the surgery. Also, we recommend that you avoid taking caffeine-containing drinks such as coffee, green, and black tea on the day of the surgery.

After the surgery, it is mandatory to take prescribed medications. Applying an ice pack for two days will help reduce the amount of swelling if there is any. Moreover, you must avoid sauna, hot bath, strenuous exercises alongside the alcoholic drinks for 2~3 weeks after stitch removal.
