The first signs of aging are usually noticed by the appearance of sagging skin and wrinkling of the undereye area. Moreover, the excessive fat under the lower eyelids can become more prominent. The Lower blepharoplasty is done under the local anesthesia. The operation is performed through the incision that is done below the lower lash line. During the operation, the surgical removal of loose skin and excess fat tissue is done. If necessary, the fat will be repositioned in undereye troughs. If there is not enough fat to be repositioned, you can combine this operation with either fat grafting or filler injections. The duration of the operation is around 1 hour-1 hour 30 minutes.

After the operation, you will be prescribed the medication including the analgesic tablets, anesthetic, and anti-inflammatory medicine.  The sutures will be removed 5 days after the operation. It is important to note that you shouldn’t strain the operated area for at least 1 month after the surgery.

There will be slight bruising and swelling after the operation. However, all the big swelling will settle down in a matter of 1 month. If you follow the post-surgery instructions, you will notice the speedy results and the considerable improvement of the undereye area.
