Can body liposuction and facial fat grafting be done at once

Most people often ask if it is possible to have liposuction and fat grafting at the same time. First of all, it is possible to conduct two surgeries (body liposuction and facial fat grafting) together. The important thing to remember is that fat grafting must be done before the body liposuction. There are two reasons for that. The first one is that facial fat grafting surgery takes less time to perform than body liposuction.

However, the second reason lies in the difference of fat used for fat grafting and the fat removed during the body liposuction. When the doctor performs the fat grafting into the facial area, he or she derives the fat mostly from the thighs or abdomen. Thus, most customers tend to think that once fat for fat grafting is taken from the body parts, does it not have the same effect as liposuction surgery? Unfortunately, no.

The fat used for facial fat grafting is delicately and evenly taken from the body. For the sake of prompt and better engraftment, the fat cells should be active even after being transferred. Therefore, the result of fat grafting surgery lasts longer.

In the case of liposuction, the doctor will be removing the excess deposits of fat from the specific parts of the body by destroying the fat cells. Since liposuction is the procedure of removing the fat, not transferring, therefore after the surgery the removed fat cannot be used in the fat grafting surgery because the fat cells are not active.
