Which method of double eyelid surgery suits you?

Double eyelid surgery is one type of plastic surgery through which creases are created on the upper eyelids. There might be several different reasons such as removing or improving the sagging and drooping eyelids. Also, people wishing to improve their general appearance usually undergo this surgery. There are several methods of double eyelid surgery: incisional and non-incisional.

However, only the qualified plastic surgeon can determine which of these methods are suitable for your specific case. Therefore, before having this surgery, it is recommended to have a consultation and know all the details of both of these methods.

Let us start from the double eyelid surgery with an incision. The process of incisional double eyelid surgery starts from careful measuring and designing the lines of the double eyelids. It is usually conducted under local anesthesia and IV sedation. The surgeon makes small incisions on the upper eyelids and then removes the skin along with the fat between the incisions. He stitches the incisions with sutures afterward which will be removed in 5 days. The incisional method suits best those who have which type of skin with excess fat. Double eyelids will not reverse back so this method is considered as one of the most effective and permanent surgeries.

The second method is a double eyelid surgery without an incision, also known as the “Buried suture technique.” Likewise, it is administered under local anesthesia and IV sedation. The surgeon makes small 1-mm punctures on the skin of upper eyelids and then places the sutures through the punctures and tightens the line. This method is effective for those who have less thick skin and not much fat. Since this technique is recommended only for those who have thin skin, it can reverse back when people with thick skin are operated with this method.
